ON THE HOUSE

Carrie Underwood brought her “Cry Pretty Tour 360” experience to Washington D.C. to a SOLD-OUT Capital One Arena. Whatever award exists for tour production, video, staging & effects should go to Team Carrie. This show lives up to its name as a 360-degree sensory experience that has “Entertainer of the Year” written all over it. Having seen the show at the sold-out MSG, what really blew me away about Carrie’s show in DC was her vocal stamina. This is a superstar who has a catalogue of songs that would stretch the vocal limits of any performer. And yet, Carrie, doesn’t skip a beat. It’s superhuman. More than just a concert, Carrie uses her stage as a platform to support some of country music’s most important women like Maddie & Tae and Runaway June. One of the highlights of the night is when Carrie brings all of her supporting acts on stage for a tribute to the women of country music who have paved the way for them. This tour is important, if only because it dispels the idiotic notion that women can’t entertain on the same level as men. The sold-out crowds I saw in NYC and DC certainly put that fiction to bed.

FRONT OF THE HOUSE

Recently at a Luke Combs show in Missouri Luke spotted a little guy names Hudson in the crowd with a sign that said “This St. Jude Kid Loves You”. Luke brought him on stage and dedicated his tune “This Ones For You” to him.
