CHEERS

TOP SHELF

Cheers from NYC where I just experienced the first of two Carrie Underwood concerts this week (next one is tomorrow in DC). Carrie’s “Cry Pretty Tour 360” is exactly that – a complete entertainment experience that spans the entire spectrum of an arena – in last night’s case – the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. Vocally, Carrie has never sounded better. Visually, this show is unlike anything we’ve seen in this genre this year. If awards like “Entertainer of the Year” really mean, who puts on the most entertaining experience of anybody you’ll see live, then Carrie needs to win this award. It is as ambitious of a production as anything I’ve ever seen since I started doing the Morning Hangover. Check out some of my fav moments via @MorningHangover InstaStory

FRONT OF THE HOUSE

It’s really remarkable how far Maddie & Tae have come from “Girl In A Country Song” to where they are right now – both as human beings as well as artists. Clearly, life experience has enriched their storytelling and it doesn’t take a rocket scientists to figure out why Carrie Underwood wanted this duo on tour with her. Maddie & Tae deliver music that is relatable, sweet and vulnerable.

BAR TALK

CRUSHIN IT

It’s amazing what a difference having a Top 5 song like “Buy My Own Drinksmakes for Runaway June’s live show. It really shows how country radio can make such a big difference in empowering the women of country to release empowering music. Looking at the reaction from every women I saw at The Garden last night, when this song came on, they resoundingly responded. Anyone who reads this tipsheet knows I’ve been on the Runaway June bandwagon since they were first introduced to the country music community during BBR’s ACMs Brunch in Vegas a few years back. It is so cool to see them get the kind of reception from a hit record, like the one I saw last night!
