More than 4,000 country music-lovin’ fans flocked to the Sterlington Sports Complex in Louisiana for the inaugural “Bayou Stock.” The event was the brain-child of Dylan Scott, who grew up a few miles down the road and was inspired by an event Tim McGraw used to host called “Swamp Stock.” This was such a cool thing to be a part of. First and foremost, because it was for such a great cause as proceeds from the show go towards Christmas gifts for local kids. Second, there is nothing like seeing an artist perform in front of his hometown. There is a passion and an energy that is so sincere. The joy of seeing one of their own make it. Third, Dylan was hands-on working to put this special event together. From calling local teachers directly to get ideas on gifts for kids to helping set up the stage and even coordinating with local authorities on the fireworks show, this was a labor of love for Dylan. If that wasn’t enough, he put on one hell of an entertaining show that had the fans on their feet for the entire night! Can’t wait to see Dylan headline his own “Nothing To Do Town” Tour in January! Special thanks to Clore at Curb and Montine at Sweet Talk for bringing me out for such a wonderful night of country music!

Also taking part in Dylan’s “Bayou Stock” event was my new favorite Australian-import Morgan Evans. This was my first time seeing Morgan perform live and man does he put on a show. He is literally a one-man-band using a pedal loop system to record beats, guitar notes, etc. all in real-time. Some songs that really stood out to me was the Kelsea Ballerini-inspired “American,” his new single “Day Drunk,” and a song I hope becomes a single down the line “Everything Changes.” The response his first #1 hit “Kiss Somebody” received from the crowd was bananas!

I’ll say this about Morgan, he is a legit nice guy! It was friggin cold out in Louisiana and for whatever reason, I didn’t realize this was an outdoor venue so I didn’t bring any kind of layering or jacket. Enter Morgan for the rescue loaning me his insulated puffy vest to get me through the night!

So the night before I went to Louisiana, I was able to check out Chris Lane’s “Laps Around the Sun Tour” stop in Silver Spring, MD at The Fillmore – where – funny enough – two years ago – I first met Chris on Dustin Lynch’s “Hell of A Night Tour.” It is really something to see how much Chris has grown a performer in these two years. His confidence and sense of self is really tangible. I tell you something – the reaction he gets from the ladies in the crowd is nuts. I think every girl fell in love with him that night. In a baller move, Chris brought up a young girl on stage to sing “For Her” and, in an expected move, brought up another girl, Isabella, right after that to sing his new single “I Don’t Know About You.” Watch this moment here and you’ll see how every person at The Fillmore new every word to his new single btw. A real highlight moment is his encore when Chris returns to the stage donning a black cowboy hat and leads the crowd in a sing-along to some of the best 90’s country hits from David Lee Murphy, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson & Garth.

Fresh off his show-stealing moment at the CMAs, 12-year-old Mason Ramsey, on his actual birthday, got the night started at The Fillmore and the crowd ate it up. Mason is a real character and that larger-than-life personality translates on stage in an incredibly endearing way. He is a super-talented and remarkably well-adjusted kid that just about anyone he crosses paths with can’t help but root for. This was also my first time seeing Mason perform live and I have to say, he really delivers an entertaining set that’s a lot more than singing old Hank songs.
