CHEERS

When I attended my first CMA Awards, I remember sitting in the back of the arena in the upper section. Don’t get me wrong, I was truly thrilled to be there. But if you were to have told me then, that just a few short years later, I’d be attending the CMAs as a guest of one of the co-hosts, I never would have believed you. It is beyond humbling to be able to experience a night like this from a perspective like the one I got to watch from and it just goes to show that if you work hard and have the support of good-hearted people, you can accomplish just about anything. So thank-you to all of the people who read Morning Hangover every day and make my story a part of your morning routine!

TOP SHELF

What a night at the 52nd Annual CMA Awards. There were some legit shockers and emotional moments. The first surprise of the night was Luke Combs winning the “New Artist of the Year” trophy. Then came Kacey Musgraves’ big win for “Album of the Year.” Next was Carrie Underwood’s emotional win for “Female Vocalist of the Year.” It’s not surprising that Chris Stapleton won a CMA Award, it’s that he won 3 of them including “Song + Single of the Year” for “Broken Halos” as well as the coveted “Male Vocalist of the Year” award. Brothers Osborne won their 3rd “Vocal Duo of the Year” award while Old Dominion paired their ACM “Vocal Group of the Year” with a CMA “Vocal Group of the Year” honor.

TAILGATE WATCH

CMT’s Leslie Fram announced at the CMT Next Women of Country brunch that Cassadee Pope will headline her first-ever tour, joined by Clare Dunn and Hannah Ellis, when the CMT Next Women of Country Tour hits the road in early 2019.

AT THE BAR

Brett Eldredge & RaeLynn delighted industry guests at Warner Music Nashville’s 4th Annual CMA Awards lunch event at The Sutler! The highlight for me was watching Brett perform a song I’ve actually never heard him play before from way back when he was first getting started called “One Mississippi.” Have to say that RaeLynn played three new songs, including her current single “Tailgate,” and I really like the direction she is going in musically. Cannot wait for everyone to hear what I did, but until then, check out @MorningHangover #InstaStory for some snippets!

WITH A TWIST

BACKSTAGE PASS

I think someone needs to have an event that is hosted by Granger Smith and Earl Dibbles Jr. I just think it would be hilarious and incredibly entertaining.

AFTER PARTY

Hanging out at the WME After-Party, which is still going on strong, and crossed-paths with Tara Thompson! Moments later, Tyler Rich & Sabina came in. And then my favorite country music import from Switzerland, Bastian Baker came in with a really stylin’ jacket!
