TOP SHELF

Tim McGraw has announced his highly anticipated 16th studio album HERE ON EARTH, arriving on August 21st. The album, featuring his current hit single ”I Called Mama” swiftly climbing the charts, serves as his first project since returning to Big Machine Records earlier this year. Giving fans a further taste of what they can expect from his first solo project in five years, McGraw released title track “Here On Earth,” accompanied by a stunning music video filled with stories of real people and their love, hope and purpose for being here on earth. HERE ON EARTH offers a collection of songs McGraw brought together to create vignettes of shared human emotions such as love, relationships, introspection, and fun. The album as a whole provides a musical tapestry of life and a shared experience that we can use to connect all the different lives that we live, all the different parts of the world that we come from and use music as the universal language to bring people together. McGraw plans to kick off the album on August 21st with a first of its kind album live stream experience. Hold that date and stay tuned for more details to be announced. I am personally stoked to hear the song “Hard To Stay Mad At” co-written by the songwriting dream team of Luke Laird, Shane McAnally & Lori McKenna. Also got my eye on “Good Taste in Women” co-written by TC3 front-man Jaren Johnston & intrigued by a song titled “Sheryl Crow”

Winners will be announced in tomorrow’s edition!

FRONT OF THE HOUSE

This passed weekend, the Grand Ole Opry honored the life and career of Country Music Hall of Famer and beloved Opry member Charlie Daniels, who passed away earlier this week. Opry members The Gatlin Brothers performed “Heaven’s Jubilee” and “Help Me” in honor of their fellow Opry member. Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Margo Price and Stoney Creek Records/BBR Music Group’s platinum-selling singer/songwriter Jimmie Allen joined the Gatlins on the 4,932nd consecutive Saturday night Opry broadcast.

TAILGATE WATCH

Brad Paisley returned to the stage headlining what might be the only LiveNation country music concert tour of 2020, “Live From the Drive-In” at stadium parking lot venues in St. Louis, Nashville, and Indianapolis. I watched the Nashville show via Brad’s Facebook Live and I can’t commend Brad and Brian O’Connell enough for creating such a unique and more importantly safe live music experience. This was as much about hope as it was country music. A reminder in the most uncertain of times, there still are little moments that give us a glimpse of what is possible and waiting for us on the other side of this moment of crisis. That even in the most trying times, we can, for just a few hours, get lost in the music of someone we trust. That’s what makes what Brad Paisley did this past weekend so special. He gave us the gift of hope and belief that something better is around the corner for us and all we need to do is hang on just a little bit longer. In seeing him perform, Brad was able to demonstrate that when he sings, “we’re all in this together,” that his skin is in the game right along with us. AT THE BAR

Photo Finish Records rising duo LAKEVIEW find a remedy for heartbreak through the local watering hole in “She Drove Me to the Bar.” Written by LAKEVIEW – comprised of Jesse Denaro (NY) and Luke Healy (PA) – along with Dave Thomson and co-produced by the two with Jonathan Roach, the track gives listeners a backseat view of a breakup, as it follows one man’s attempt at putting his heartbreak in the rearview by heading to a local dive – singing, “She ain’t even in the car, but she drove me to the bar.”

LAST CALL

Big Loud Records’ riser Sean Stemaly is back with a summertime small-town heartbreak story that hits close to home, “As Far As I Know, Stemaly’s latest is a new-age provincial anthem with an unshakable hook, detailing the too-familiar story of a love interest kissing their map-dot goodbye for something big past the county line. Penned by Jameson Rodgers, Hunter Phelps, and Justin Wilson, and co-produced by Joey Moi and Derek Wells, “As Far As I Know” is told from the perspective of a loyal-to-the-core native whose roots are too deep to leave, an ode to little town living that hopes its charm and familiarity will continue to be enough.
