@warnermusicnashville shared the sad news: “Today we mourn the loss of our beloved friend and teammate, Tom Starr (56), who passed away last night. We are devastated by this news and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. We will share further details as they become available while Warner Music Nashville and the country music community grieve together.”

The last time I was in Nashville was for CRS2020, and I’m glad to have the memory of having a drink post-midnight with Tom at Barlines. I’ll always remember him as someone who lived up to his last name. Who loved what he did and reflected that joy to those of us who were lucky enough to be in his orbit. The road won’t be the same without him out there, but we can take comfort in knowing he’ll have the best seat in the house for any show that’s playing.
