FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE was surprised backstage with two landmark achievements during Big Machine Label Group’s luncheon at Country Radio Seminar 2020. Pandora honored the superstar duo with the elite BILLIONAIRE plaque for surpassing five billion lifetime spins and named them among the Top 10 most-spun Country acts in the music platform’s 20-year history. Garnering more thabn 12 million streams per week on Pandora, FGL’s latest single “Blessings,” off GOLD-certified CAN’T SAY I AIN’T COUNTRY (BMLG Records), has also remained on its Top Spins chart for seven consecutive weeks.

ON THE JUKEBOX

The Shires, the UK’s best-selling country act of all time – comprised of Crissie Rhodes and Ben Earle – will release their new album, Good Years, in the U.S. on March 13th via BMG. Good Years was recorded in Nashville and includes 12 new tracks, 10 of which are co-written by the duo. Produced by Lindsay Rimes, Good Years, also features some of Nashville’s top songwriters, including Cam, Bob DiPiero and Canaan Smith.

The Country Music Association will present a new music showcase of Nashville’s rising artists—for the first time in the U.K. at The Great Escape, Europe’s leading new-music festival. Partnering with Live Nation U.K., the showcase, Next From Nashville, will take place on Thursday, May 14th with a lineup of emerging Nashville talent including Danielle Bradbery, Blanco Brown and The Sisterhood Band. With the continuing increase of Country artists touring abroad, CMA is excited to play a role in bringing some of Country’s hottest up-and-coming talent to new audiences at this multi-genre music festival, which features a diverse lineup of artists from around the world.

Opry Entertainment Group announced it has formed a new Artist & Label Strategy Team specifically devoted to supporting the growing suite of opportunities for artists under its umbrella of brands including the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, 650 AM WSM, Ole Red and Circle, a recently launched media network dedicated to celebrating the country lifestyle. Jenn Tressler and Haley Montgomery have both joined the team as Artist & Label Strategy Managers reporting to Jordan Pettit, Director of Artist Relations & Programming Strategy. 

BACKSTAGE PASS

The Country Music Association awarded Ben Earle of U.K. Country duo The Shires with the 2020 CMA International Country Broadcaster Award at the CMA office in Nashville. This award recognizes outstanding achievement by a radio broadcaster or syndicated radio reporter outside the United States who has made important contributions for the development of Country Music in their country. Earle has developed his broadcasting skills over the past year, making his BBC Radio 2 broadcasting debut while temporarily filling in for veteran broadcaster Bob Harris. BBC Radio 2 has a weekly audience of 14.44 million.

Condolences to manager extraordinaire Fletcher Foster on the loss of his father, USMC ret. Jess William (Bill) Foster of Wichita, Kansas, who passed away on Sunday.  A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at First Church of the Nazarene (1400 East Kellogg) with a reception following.
