CHEERS

Happy Valentine’s Day y’all! I just want to send my love out to all of you here at CRS who have taken a moment to say hi to me and shared with me how you’ve made the Morning Hangover a part of your daily country music routine. Means the world to me that so many of you have given me a gateway to become a part of this genre that I love so much!

TOP SHELF

Name me another music format where one of the most iconic superstars of all time is willing to put on an event like Garth Brooks hosted last night in an empty Bridgestone Arena. This is what makes country music so special. The biggest of stars was willing to be vulnerable. To stand there with nothing but a guitar and his voice in a setting where you can hear everything. Willing to be human. Willing to put on a show that was just as entertaining as a stadium show for just a few hundred of us here at CRS. Garth took us all on a unique musical journey that covered musical influences like Dylan, Willie, Whitley, and more. Garth took his generosity to the next level entertaining questions and song requests from the audience. This could very well be the most unique and special music experience I have ever been a part of. Simply blown away!

ON THE HOUSE

Follow us all night long on Instagram/InsaStory for live looks at Dylan Scott’s show tonight from the Cannery Ballroom here in Nashville!

FRONT OF THE HOUSE

Zac Brown Band, Adam Hambrick, Hardy, Tenille Townes, and King Calaway headlined Amazon’s Hot Country Nights at CRS. Check out @morninghangover on Instagram and catch our #InstaStory for highlights. It was pretty neat to watch Zac Brown Band up-close – literally just a few feet away. They played some new music for us that was really interesting. This was my first time seeing Adam Hambrick and Hardy live. Adam is an amazing vocal talent and has a lot more charisma as a performer that I would have expected at first glance. His rendition of the #1 hit he wrote for Justin Moore, “Somebody Else Will,” was outstanding. I’m really rooting for this guy. Hardy really fits that Morgan Wallen/FGL sound, which makes sense since he was the songwriting force behind “Up Down” and “Simple.” Second time seeing King Calaway and I’m hoping country radio gives these guys a shot because they have the potential to be a rally unique act in our format!

BAR BITES

Warner Music Nashville kicked-off CRS with an absolutely terrific lunch event that featured Blake Shelton receiving the CRS Humanitarian of the Year Award from his good pal Dierks Bentley and taking a few minutes to play some classic Blake hits acoustically! Dan + Shay, fresh off their breakthrough GRAMMYs night just three days ago, received an incredibly warm reception and performed their new single “All to Myself.” Loved hearing Chris Janson’s new song “Good Vibes” live for the first time – talk about a song we need in this moment in time. The more I hear Cole Swindell’s “Love You Too Late,” the more I really like it – it’s probably my favorite Cole single since “Let Me See Ya Girl.” My first time seeing Cody Johnson live and I really dig his brand of country music – glad he’s getting a shot to showcase how broad his appeal can really be. Every time I see Ashley McBryde perform live, the more I think it is absolutely insane that she doesn’t get more airplay. She’s an amazing talent with incredible stories to tell that, if given a real chance, I’m certain the fans would respond to. Always great to see Devin Dawson speak his truth through songs like “Dark Horse.” Finally, Morgan Evans is someone who I think has the potential to be a real cornerstone for Warner Music Nashville for the next decade – he’s that talented. As always, you can watch highlights of this amazing kick-off event right now on our #InstaStory

ON THE BAR WALL

Stole a few minutes with one of my personally favorite performers Thomas Rhett at a happy hour hosted by Valory! Thanks George Briner for making this moment with TR happen.
